Free Regulatory Reform Order Seminars

Implications of the new fire safety legislation. Make sure you are informed!

Due to demand, Solutions Fire Safety Ltd are holding a series of free Regulatory Reform seminars throughout 2009. These free seminars will explain the demands of the new legislation and implications for anyone responsible for fire safety. The seminars will cover issues relating to Responsible Persons, Fire Risk Assessment, and how to ensure compliance.

The seminars will give each attendee a chance to be updated on the RRO and to discuss their fire safety concerns.

Fire Risk Assessment Workshop

The current Fire Precautions (Workplace) Regulations require the completion of a formal fire risk assessment and this will be even more important due to the new Regulatory Reform Order.

Our Risk Assessment Workshop is designed to help your staff carry out the risk assessment process. Using the Fire Safety Audit Guide, this makes the task both easy to implement yet comprehensive.

Having already helped staff at HM Customs & Excise, British Sugar, Cambridgeshire County Council, Essex County Council, Innogy, London Borough of Harrow, Reuters and Visteon complete their Fire Risk Assessment, your own staff could benefit from our workshop, presented by expert fire risk assessors in a practical and user-friendly style. Our workshop includes:

• Introduction to Fire Risk Assessment
• Current Requirements
• Using the Fire Safety Audit Guide
• Types of risks and how to eliminate them
• Dealing with significant findings
• Fire Safety Communication

Fire Safety Sign Survey

The current Health & Safety (Safety Signs & Signals) Regulations require that safety signs must:

• Be sited effectively
• Use current design criteria
• Be well maintained
• Have a guaranteed supply of emergency power

Are you positive all your signs meet the above criteria?

We can arrange a visit to your premises at your own convenience. After a survey of the building we will provide you with a report and certificate confirming your signage meets the requirements or, in the event that some areas will need to be looked at, we will provide details of the items you need to consider.

Safety Clothing

Hi-visibility jackets and armbands are made to identify key personnel in an emergency. The Fire Warden, Officer or Marshal needs to be totally conspicuous in an emergency, as they will have been trained to take control and aid evacuation under such circumstances.

JALITE identification armbands and jerkins provide a simple solution. By the very nature of their responsibility the Fire Marshal, Officer or Warden may be the last person to leave a building and could quite possibly be left in a totally dark environment. Even under these conditions, JALITE safety clothing can still be seen.

JALITE Safety Clothing is made out of a high visibility yellow material with retro-reflective and photoluminescent markings. The jackets come in three different sizes and can be plain or have Fire Warden, Fire Officer, Fire Marshal or First Aider printed on them.

Independent Fire Risk Assessment

Solutions can arrange to visit your premises and complete a full Fire Risk Assessment of your building or a designated area(s) within your building.

We will audit your Fire Safety Management Policy, which includes checking certification, your means of escape policy, fire protection equipment, emergency lighting, fire detection, alarm and sprinkler systems, contractor management, signage and arson.

We can look at your Fire Safety Training Policy, such as the training of personnel, fire wardens, new staff, general staff, specific staff, contractors and visitors.

Finally, we will complete a file of evidence, by checking flammable substances, combustible materials and waste, heating and electrical appliances, other sources of heat, lighting, occupancy profile, persons at risk and escape.

We will then produce and present a report detailing the significant findings we have identified during the fire safety audit and importantly, give recommendations to rectify the problem.
